When’s the best time to email your pitch?

This week around the Full Circle PR office we are right in the middle of some big announcements for our clients. We’ve interviewed the CEOs, drafted the news releases, researched the editors and are ready to pitch. However, one question that always seems to be on the minds of PR professionals has been on my mind lately.

“When’s the best time to email the pitch?”

Come on, I know you’ve asked yourself that too, and if you’ve done research like I have, you’ve gotten several different answers. Recently, I came across this great infographic from PR daily about a recent study on the time of day recipients are most likely to open their emails. A few compelling findings that may help you out:

  • 23.63% of all emails are opened within the first hour after delivery.
  • By the second hour of delivery, the chances of being opened drop by half.
  • The majority of emails, 38.7%, daily land in the inbox before noon.
  • 18.94% of emails are opened from 12:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m., compared to 13.36% from 12:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Here’s the complete infographic for more statistics. Do any of these findings surprise you?
