What’s in a tweet?

Sometimes I struggle with the meaning of a ‘tweet.’ After all, Twitter is just another channel by which people can communicate with each other. Right?

Well here’s an article I ran across with an example that proves tweeting can serve a purpose, and actually do good! An Australian charity organization and design firm partnered to create an interactive light installation that can be controlled by tweets.

The tunnel is comprised of thousands of LED lights, and represents the many hopes of Australian residents. Visitors were asked to share — in 140 characters or less, using the #hopesforchange hashtag — what positive change they hope to see in the next 200 years.

Now I can get behind that kind of a tweet! You?
