The Social Media Revolution – Are you ready?

When thinking about the importance of social media for your brand(s), are you guilty of only applying content to “popular” outlets? I know I can raise both hands on this question – I’m still trying to fully grasp the concept of less popular networks like Foursquare and Google+.

That’s why the FCPR team is always looking for new and better opportunities to improve the presence of the brands we work with on social media. It has become imperative to stay in front of social media trends, to assure your brand is utilizing the correct applications in the most efficient ways.

It amazes me just how far social media has come in the past few years, and has ultimately helped in creating brands.

Here you’ll see in September 2009, Facebook was rapidly growing, blogging was very popular and major platforms consisted of: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Orkit, Bebo and Myspace.


Now take a look at the changes we’ve seen in just three years. In November of  2012, 93% of marketers are using social media for business purposes, Kindergardeners are using ipads and major platforms are: Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest, YouTube and Linkedin.

Social networking sites have become ever important in the marketing world, as society turns to them for advice, suggestions, relationships and trends. As PR pros, we should all value the importance of social media for our brands, and make it our personal responsibility to know what’s out there and what’s to come.
