4 Tips for good media relations
Mirroring how good media relations outreach should be, today’s post is brief and digestible. Below are 4 key ideas that every good PR pro must keep in mind when pitching to either print, online or broadcast news.
- Be brief. Just like you, editors don’t have all day to read emails. Effectively summarize your point in the first paragraph of any email pitch and early on in a phone conversation.
- Be persistent. Follow up with your pitches, especially editors that have expressed an interest in your story. Make sure that they have everything they need to feature your news.
- Be patient. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see immediate results from distributing a press release. If your news is relevant, editors will keep the release on file. You never know when it might show up online or in print!
- Be thankful. We are NEVER tired of getting our clients coverage at FCPR – because we know that editors, writers and producers DON’T have to cover our news. We also show appreciation to those who share our stories.
