Pinterest: A&D’s newest social sweetheart
It’s no surprise to hear Pinterest has taken the social media world by storm. While the site is not necessarily a fit for every brand, but can be a great tool for architecture and design (A&D) companies.
Why? A&D is a visual industry, and many designers use Pinterest to find inspiration through images. Brands can share products, prices and inspiration with their customers through an organized set of images on the site. It’s a perfect fit.
Hosting contests on Pinterest (shameless plug)
One of our clients, Progress Lighting, is active on Pinterest and has seen immediate success from using the site. To better engage with Pinterest followers, the brand recently launched a promotion hosted exclusively on the site.
The “Match Maker Contest” asks followers to pin images of their dream home, including at least three images of Progress Lighting fixtures. After a two week submission period, one winner will be selected to win three of the fixtures they pinned.
While this promotion has a higher barrier to entry than other social media contests we’ve hosted, it engages our most loyal followers by asking them to select products that fit into their own homes. Although new, Pinterest is the only social media platform that allows A&D brands to connect with their key audiences almost exclusively with images.
