What do you look for in a PR firm?

Today’s blog post is going to be all about you.  Most of the time we use this forum to serve up interesting trends we’re seeing in the communications world, and within the industries we serve for our clients.  But today, I want to turn the tables and get some feedback from you.

What do you look for in a PR firm?  

As PR continues to evolve within the marketing space, it’s important to have clearly defined expectations and goals when you go in to research potential partners. Is your business as such that having a crisis communications expert on speed dial is of utmost importance? Or is having someone who’s able to introduce you to the influencers and decision makers in your industry more key?

Do you look for a firm with proven success stories within your industry (hint: you should). Do you search for people who have experience writing, identifying story angles and connecting businesses with their customers – whether that’s on social media, at an event or just through their relationships and connections?

As a growing PR firm, we have certain expectations from new business partners when we determine whether or not help share their story. We’re so fortunate to be able to work with great people running incredible businesses – that’s something I hope we never move away from.  We can also tell pretty quickly when a potential partnership is not a match, and we move swiftly to connect the contact with someone who can better service their needs.
